Make sure high school schedule meets college requirements

Prepare college applications to be brought to the Guidance Office for mailing (bring your own postage)

Check registration dates for October SAT/ACT if needed

Attend a college fair

Attend college representative conferences if still in doubt as to which college to choose

Work harder and improve academic grades

 

OCTOBER  -  NOVEMBER

Take or retake SAT/ACT

Check registration dates for November/December SAT/ACT if needed

Attend college representative conferences if still in doubt as to which college to choose

  •  

Prepare college applications to be brought to the Guidance Office for mailing (bring your own postage)

Start researching scholarships (WHS library, church, community organizations, parents' employers/unions and go to www.fastweb.com)

Check with high school counselor when you have questions or need help

  •

DECEMBER

Take or retake SAT/ACT

Make sure high school schedule meets college requirements

Make arrangements for personal interviews with colleges if required
  •  
Secure FAFSA forms from Guidance Office
  •  
Attend college representative conferences if still in doubt as to which college to choose

Prepare college applications and bring to the Guidance Office for mailing BEFORE Christmas Break (bring your own postage)

Continue to research scholarships

JANUARY

Attend financial aid meeting and obtain FAFSA form

FEBRUARY  -  MARCH

Make sure FAFSA is mailed by February 15 (Deadline is March 1)

Make copy of FAFSA for your records

This is a waiting period for most decisions - some schools will notify applicants by this time

 

APRIL

Notify colleges of your decision and keep a record of acceptances and financial awards.

  •  

Withdraw other applications and thank the colleges

  •  

Continue investigating scholarship possibilities - check newspapers, listen to announcements in school and go to www.fastweb.com

  •  

Notify the Guidance Office of your decision - your final transcript will be sent to your chosen college/school

 

MAY

  •  
College acceptance is provisional!  It is based on your completing high school at your present grade point average
  •  
Finalize plans with college/school that you will attend.  Make sure all forms are completed - housing, orientation materials, physicals and other necessary paperwork
